Privacy Policy
Version 1.0. Effective October 17, 2026.
This policy explains what information Dan Wheeler Plumbing & Heating collects through this website, why we collect it, who sees it, and how long we keep it. It covers danwheelerplumbing.com only.
1. Who we are
Dan Wheeler Plumbing & Heating is a plumbing and heating business owned and run by Dan Wheeler. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Dan and his business. You can reach us at danwheelerplumbing@gmail.com or (978) 726-4656.
2. What we collect when you request a quote
The quote form asks for:
- your name (required)
- your phone number (required)
- your town (optional)
- a description of the problem (required)
- one photo (optional)
With your request we also store the date and time you sent it, a scrambled code made from your IP address (see section 3), and whether the email to Dan was delivered. After your request arrives, Dan may add his own notes and a status, such as “contacted” or “quoted”.
The form does not ask for your email address, your street address, or any payment details. We never ask for a Social Security number, a driver’s license number, or a bank or card number. Please do not put that kind of information, or health information, in your description. Tell us only what Dan needs to understand the job.
About photos
Photos taken on a phone can carry hidden details, such as the date, the phone model, and sometimes the location where the photo was taken. The website may keep those hidden details with your photo. Dan does not use them. If you would rather not share them, turn off location for your camera before you take the photo, or call instead of sending one.
3. Spam protection and your IP address
An IP address is a number that identifies an internet connection. When you send the form, our server mixes your IP address with a secret value and turns it into a scrambled code (a salted hash). We store that code, never the IP address itself. We use the code for one thing: to allow no more than 5 requests per hour from the same connection, so the form cannot be flooded with spam. The code stays with your request until the request is deleted.
The form also has a hidden field and a timer that catch automated spam. A submission caught this way is thrown away and not stored.
Like any web host, our hosting provider, Vercel, receives the IP address of every visitor so it can deliver pages and protect the site. Vercel may keep it for a short time in its own server logs, under its own terms.
4. How we use your information
- To contact you about your request and give you an estimate.
- To do the work if you hire Dan, and to keep his business records.
- To keep the quote form free of spam and abuse.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it for advertising, and we do not use it to profile you. We do not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing messages.
5. Who receives your information
Only the companies that run this website for us, each for its own job:
- Supabase
- Stores your request and your photo, runs the owner sign-in, and stores the gallery photos. Our database is in the United States (US East region).
- Resend
- Delivers the email that tells Dan a new request has arrived.
- Google (Gmail)
- Provides Dan’s email inbox, where that email arrives.
- Vercel
- Hosts the website and runs the code that receives the form.
- Elevare Studio
- Built and maintains this website. It has administrator access to the site’s systems so it can keep them working, and it may see requests while doing that work. It uses that access only to maintain the site.
The email to Dan contains your name, phone number, town, and description. If you sent a photo, it contains a private link to the photo that stops working after 7 days. The photo itself stays in private storage that the public cannot open.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, for example to answer a valid court order.
6. How long we keep it
The website does not delete requests on a schedule. A request, its photo, and Dan’s notes stay until Dan deletes them. The email copy stays in Dan’s inbox until he deletes it. If you ask us to delete your request, we will (see section 10).
If Dan does work for you, he keeps job and payment records for his business and his taxes for as long as tax rules require.
7. Cookies, browser storage, and offline copies
The public pages of this website do not set cookies. We use no analytics, no advertising pixels, no tracking scripts, and no embedded content from other companies. Our fonts are served from this website.
One exception: photos that Dan adds to the gallery through his dashboard load from our storage provider, Supabase. Your browser then connects to Supabase, which receives your IP address and browser details, as any server does. Supabase’s network may set a security cookie called “__cf_bm” on its own domain. It helps tell people from automated bots and expires after 30 minutes. We do not use it.
The only cookies come from the owner sign-in at /login and the owner dashboard. They are for Dan and the people who maintain the site. They keep the owner signed in, and they last up to 400 days unless the owner signs out. If anyone else uses the sign-in page, it sets a cookie that makes the sign-in step work.
On the owner pages only, your browser remembers for 30 days that the “Add to home screen” button was dismissed.
The site uses a service worker. That is a small script that lets pages load when your connection drops. It saves copies of the public pages you visit, along with the site’s icons and code files, in your browser. These copies contain no personal information. It never saves what you type in the quote form, the sign-in pages, or the owner dashboard. You can remove the copies by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
8. Children
This website is for adults arranging plumbing and heating work. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us a request, contact us and we will delete it.
9. How we protect it
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Requests are stored in a database that only signed-in administrators can read. Photos are kept in private storage. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send more than Dan needs to understand the job.
10. Your choices
You can ask us to:
- tell you what information we have about you
- correct it
- delete it
Email danwheelerplumbing@gmail.com or call (978) 726-4656. To make sure we act on the right request, we may ask you to confirm the name and phone number you used. We will answer within 30 days. When we delete a request, we remove it, its photo, and Dan’s notes from the website’s systems, and Dan deletes the email about it. We may keep job and payment records that the law requires us to keep.
We do not charge for this, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
11. Where you live
We serve Middlesex County, Massachusetts. We offer the choices in section 10 to every visitor, wherever they live. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page with a new version number and effective date. If a change affects how we use requests you have already sent, we will say so at the top of this page.
